Frequently Asked Questions
What is a baseline?
A building’s usage baseline is an average of electricity and water usage during a four-week period (October 5th to November 2nd) over the past three years (2008-2010). Electricity usage carries twice the composite weight of water usage. The combined water (33%) and electricity (66%) usage makes up the composite usage for each building. Buildings compete against this baseline (their past usage) in the Energy Challenge.
How can I promote conservation and the Energy Challenge in my residence hall/academic building/Greek house?
Please contact iuec@indiana.edu for promotional materials and/or programming ideas. We have magnets, stickers and fliers, and we would be happy to come speak at an event.
